Zucchini French Toast, Not So Good

I cooked something I have been wanting to try for some time, French toast made with a sweet bread. I had day old zucchini bread sitting on the counter waiting for me this morning, so I went for it. I didn't like it very much. I think it was too sweet. I thought having the already sweet zucchini bread with the yummy syrup would make a breakfast that maybe I could make on a special occasion, since I knew it would be extra sweet, but no. I am not sure if I even feel like tweaking it. I think I will give up on the sweet bread French toast idea. Rich will be glad he was at the Men's Breakfast at church this morning. I'm sure he had a better meal there.

I did enjoy my breakfast time though. It was just a bit too chilly this morning to sit out on my back deck for breakfast, which I love to do, so I took my breakfast to my bedroom and sat in bed while I watched Food Network.

I am not sure how I feel about the cooler days coming. I love having fun in the summer warmth, but the fall is such a beautiful time of year. I also love cooking all the traditional fall meals. Since we had a lot of peppers in our garden, a couple weeks ago I made chili and froze it. We have been blessed with some wonderful summer heat late in the season, so I haven't been able to serve the chili yet. I am thinking I will get to pull it out of the freezer this coming week. I just had one of my favorite summers, and I am not ready to let it go. I need jump in and embrace all of fall's wonderfulness. I think I need to make some donuts and serve them with cider. That will help!
